2015 front suspension rebuild
Today, after a few more tweaks using the suspension geometry calculator I have finally started the rebuild. This involved setting up the wishbones on the bench so they reflect exactly what is in the calculator and also double checking each side has the same settings. It took a quite a few goes running back and forth between the bench, the car and the tablet until I was happy enough with the settings. I haven’t spent this much time setting up the real suspension as yet soI’m hoping the extract work will be reflected in the way the car handles next year.
I rested the car on blocks at what will be the it’s ride height next year – 60mm at the front, 100mm at the rear. 60mm is the lowest I dare go as any lower (the minimum is 45mm) and the car grounds in the paddock and is especially difficult to move when we have a grass paddock.

I then set about re-assembling the suspension following a print out of the suspension geometry calculator. If you’re wondering how I managed to print it, I took a screen capture.

Finally, I put blocks underneath the axle and wishbones so they stay at ride height and removed the wheels. Unfortunately, I ran out of time today but next week I’ll be aligning all four wheels which will finish off the suspension modifications in preparation for 2015.
